Passport Expires in next 11 months and have to apply for express entry

My husband's passport expires in August 2019 (primary candidate for express entry) and we will apply for express entry in October 2018. Should we renew the passport and then apply or there will be no problem if we get the PR in the month of April 2019 and move to Canada in May or June 2019.

You can renew anytime while the application is in process, however at the time of PPR it needs to have a validity of 6 months or 1 yr depending on the country.

Navinball is correct. You can renew at any point. We waited until 6 months+ standard passport renewal time was left. For us that was 7 months.
They make it very easy to update your details.

A piece of advice, get it renewed before applying PR.

At the time of Visa stamping, passport should have more than 6 months validity, so if your PR takes time, you will be in a situation.

That's why, get it renewed now. Its easy.
