From the other thread, November applicants seem to be getting AIP and September ones are getting DM on both sides. So January applicants probably won't hear anything for another two months or so.

any updates in your application?thanks
Nothing yet! But I've been following the 2017 forum, and there are a couple of late Novembers that have landed ( but I think those are rare).
Looks like it'll be another month or two for news :(
Will let you guys know as soon as I hear!

Hi guys,

Just wondering, roughly how long does it take to get the sponsorship portion approved after getting am AOR? My spouse, the sponsor, got the AOR on Aug 2 and it still shows as processing.

Thanks! :)

All in all, average is 12 months. Could be under, could be over - every case is different.

Edit: if by sponsorship portion you mean sponsor eligibility, with inland applications it usually all happens at the end. Midway through the process, around the 6 month mark, is when the medical happens. Then usually nothing until a month or two before the whole process is complete, sponsor approval included.

Oh I see. So I shouldn't be too worried until next February or so?

I understand that the whole process takes around 12 months. Is that from the time they start processing the package (i.e. Aug 2) or from the time they received it (i.e. June 20)?

Edit: also, any idea when I would get an AOR for the principal applicant portion of the package?

Should be 12 months since they received it, but the difference between that and AOR usually isn't longer than a month and a half so it falls within the margin of error anyway.

I'm not sure what you're referring to as principal applicant portion AOR? There's only one AOR and it's for the whole application. You would get a separate one if you applied for OWP, but there's no sponsor AOR and applicant AOR. It's just the one.

Congrats! What is your timeline?

You don't need to apply for any extra visa, your OWP is your visa until your PR comes through.

Yep, keep it with you when you travel. It should also have you eTa attached, should it be required, but someone else may chime in on that. eTa is electronic travel authorisation, and is usually used by nationals from visa-exempt countries.

you can leave Canada but I dont think you can re-enter Canada by just having OWP(normally it clearly states on the OWP that it doesnt allow re-entry), Depending upon what is your country of Citizenship you will need eTA or Multiple Entry Visa(TRV) on your passport. I am not 100% sure , maybe some senior member can help you further.
