dude- first things first- relax. Give people time to respond to your questions.

Answer to your prep materials question-
Check out post #1442..specifically the member @Goku 's signature. He has taken the time to mention multiple test prep websites.

As to what the officer asked- it would be a conversation regarding your file- where you work etc...he/she would like to ascertain if you are able to follow and respond to their questions, so in a way it's a test of how well you speak and understand English.
