Good morning everyone.

I have a question and hopefully you can help!!!

Do you always need your COPR form for a citizenship interview or would your PR card be sufficient??? And how would I go about replacing it if I do need it???

Thanks in advance.

Yes, it's now a requirement, or at least it was for those being interviewed by the Kitchener office a couple of months ago.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides/application-verification-status-replacement-immigration-document.html

Note: The actual document itself will not be issued. Instead, a plain paper document will be issued that will provide information about your immigration history.

If you require specific information that was originally captured on the immigration document (immigration category, document validity dates etc), you must specify this in your application for a Verification of Status document.

As per document checklist you are not required to provide a photocopy of COPR during rinitial submission of application. But they might ask you for it at later stage during interview.

I was not asked for COPR at any stage of Citizenship process. If you don't have it, it is recommended to have a replacement.

It seems a bit random regarding if you need it for the interview. Some people are asked for it whiles others are not - even from the same office. I'd say it is best to bring it to the interview to be safe. If you lost yours, I'd recommend getting a Verification of Status document that zardoz mentioned.

I'm wondering if it's a new requirement. In Kitchener they were very insistent on COPR at the interview, even sending at least two of the candidates away to collect it.

I did my interview last week and was asked for it. It is among the list of documents they ask you take along. One just needs to read the instructions carefully.

My wife had her interview in Scarborough. They did not ask for it. However, her friend also had her interview in Scarborough about 2 months earlier. She was asked for it and the interviewer gave her a hard time for not having it (she had lost her COPR), though she eventually got her oath invite.
