New passport requested by cic

Hi all,

I got a PPR on 16th After my pgwp being approved. I submitted my passport on 17 August. On 24 August my account was updated and after logging in there was a message for Request letter.

In that message cic asked for a new passport ask my original passport’s bio page was peeling off. The message was:-

Additional documentation or information is required in order to continue processing your application. Any documents not in English or French must be accompanied by a certified translation in addition to a photocopy of the original document. Do not submit originals unless specifically asked to do so.

 Passport/Travel Document: Bio page of your passport is peeling off. Please submit new passpot. This must be received at this office by: 2018/09/23
Please submit the above requested documents through VFS. In case of online application please submit through my CIC account.

If the documents requested relate to your host/inviter in Canada, he/she may send them (if they prefer to do so) directly to our office. He/she should clearly indicate your file number to avoid delays.

Please note that this is not a new application and no new fees are required. Your file will be held for 30 days for you to comply with the above request. If we do not hear from you within 30 days, we will assume that you no longer wish to pursue your application and will close your file accordingly.


Now I need my original passport to apply for new passport and my passport is with high commission, New Delhi. I can’t reissue my passport till I don’t get my original passport.

Also, do I have to only send a photo is my new passport or send my passport to vfs for stamping?
I’m very confused can someone please advice.

You must email/request NDVO to return your passport.

You can then apply for a new passport by the Tatkal process. You would be able to get it in about a week

My concern here is cic has still not dispatched my passport. Also, if I apply for new passport I’ll get it in 3 days. But do I have to only upload it or send them by vfs. Because it says “. VFS New Delhi has your passport. Don't track on the VFS site as that the status updates are incorrect.

I think there's a Toll-free number on their website. Maybe you could get the VFS Delhi number from them
