It looks on and half reasonably good number of people are getting PPRs (spousal sponsorship) in around 3 to 4 months from NDVO too. But what happens is, they don't come here and discuss bcz their wait time is not much. The people whose applications stuck beyond 5 months want to know what's happening with other cases, they discuss on the forum and share their information on the spreadsheet etc.
By reading those posts and looking at their wait time on the spreadsheet, we are bound to conclude that "Oh.. God! It is normal to take above 8 months in NDVO!"

Sometimes I found here that a guy who applied by himself got Visa from NDVO in 5 months total !!
 
congratulation, how come you got your PPR so fast,
I applied on Feb 14, 2018, still haven't heard anything yet.

We submitted in March
Process started in May
Got PPR on August 23rd
