Urgent Processing for Canadian citizenship to avoid losing job

Hi all!

My job requires me to move to US as soon as possible as they feel I can be more efficient in my work there. I feel I can potentially lose my job as my manager is not very comfortable having me work remotely in Canada.

Canadian citizenship would allow me access to TN to move there for work. Is this an acceptable reason to apply for urgent processing? What proof do I need to provide for the same?

IRCC is not going to approve requests so applicants can work outside Canada and stimulate their economy instead of Canada's.

This is not factual, don't spread misinformation. There have been many people that have left due to their jobs. Now, does it qualify as urgent? That's a different story which OP is asking.

No, unless it's a federal job from Canadian government or a job from Canadian military, neither of which would need TN BTW, there's no chance for you to get urgent processing

While my response is not "factual" to you, it is a realistic response from IRCC.

Besides the point if wanting to work in the states is a good reason, there is two other reasons why I don't think they would accept your request:
- You could potentially lose your job. That is waaaaay too weak. It must be a sure thing.
- You need reliable, written proof that you would lose your job. Your reasoning, no matter how valid it might be, sounds way too vague to convince an IRCC officer.

It is in my contract that I need to be flexible to work anywhere in the globe as the job requires. I accepted those terms and conditions. I am no longer able to meet them due to my citizenship.

Have you actually gone anywhere in the globe to work since you started your job beside US?

You signed that contract without having citizenship, a while ago. So you signed that you can fulfil these obligations with your current citizenship/immigration status. Nothing in your personal circumstances changed and all of a sudden you are claiming you can't fulfil that job. Why was this not a problem until now?

I'm intentionally playing devil's advocate here and this is what IRCC will do, too. Again, there might be "soft circumstances" that change the situation but you can't use a contract as proof that you signed a while ago. I assume you didn't sign that contract yesterday, so how is this urgent?

Yes, only to US but under B1 to attend meetings. I am not legally allowed to work under that visa. I started this job about 3 months ago so I haven't travelled a lot just 2 weeks for now.

No its cool. I rather have someone talk it out. What changed is it is getting hard to train me as I am a NCG. My manager isn't too comfortable with me remotely operating in Canada anymore. My contract explicitly says they have the rights to transfer me to any other geographical location as desired. I am not too sure what to do. I am fine working in Canada tbh but I don't wanna lose a job!

so you have been on your job for a while and that wasn't a issue in the beginning but now it is? Your citizenship status obviously hasn't changed, yet you were meeting the flexibility requirement early on but not now?

I think this is a discussion between you and your employer. This is not IRCC's issue. This is the result of a said contract agreement between you and employer. He/she accepted your contract when you are not flexible as he/she thinks you are. And now wants IRCC's involvement?

I totally get your situation. But I think we should give you a realistic assessment. You can try to apply for urgent processing, but I would say 99.9% it will be rejected and it seems that everyone else agrees. Again, I understand that this is an issue for you, but that doesn't change my assessment of the situation.

The biggest issue is: You currently have the job. Even ignoring all other problems, you need FACTUAL proof that you will lose your job if you don't get citizenship ASAP. So the very least would be a letter from your company that assures that 100% you will lose your job if you don't get citizenship ASAP. I doubt they would write such a letter. And that wouldn't be enough in itself, anyways.
