Hi,

We received CoPRs for my common law partner and myself a couple of months back. We will be landing in Canada in about 2 months from now. After spending 2 weeks in Canada we will be leaving for India to get married and would then be returning back to Canada in a couple of months. Do I need to inform CIC about the change in my Marital Status before re-entering Canada (common law to married)? If yes, then how should I do that?

Can someone please advise on this. Thanks in advance!

If you get married after you land as a PR, no, you do not need to inform IRCC of the change.

I have a similar situation. I'll be soft landing in Sept and will come back to my home country in Oct. Planning on getting married in December and moving permanently to Canada in January.

If I don't receive my PR card until January, I'll have to apply for PRTD to re-enter Canada. While applying for PRTD, if I mention that my marital status got changed, will it have an impact on my PRTD application?

No - this won't impact your PRTD application.
