This news doesn't sound good for those who trying to immigrate to Canada.

Canadians have been dubious for decades about the merits of increasing levels of immigration, but a new report also suggests growing opposition to immigration over the past few years.

This topic is open to wide debate- from many perspectives, eg political, economic, social, technological, legal, environmental.
Infrastructure in big cities like Vancouver & Toronto are failing to catch up in order to support the growing population (eg. housing shortages)
Nevertheless, there are many places in Canada which really need immigrants esp. outside the big cities but it does not mean immigrants are not needed in cities.
As someone who used to live, work & travel around Australia & UK before immigrating to Canada, I personally feel Canadians are generally more welcoming towards ''newcomers'' (as they call us here).

I agree with you but most immigrants comes to Toronto or Vancouver. Survey may be done on these cities only also the conservative party is coming up with its new immigration policy today.

The article offers a good insight of what is currently happening in Canadian immigration from the eyes of politicians be it ruling or opposing.
In general, Canada NEEDS immigrants to sustain its population growth.
None of the political parties in Canada would dare to STOP immigration completely, it would be disastrous.
The debates often revolve around reducing vs increasing the immigration intake- the bottom line is Canada will continue to seek immigrants for the foreseeable future.

Weird, I posted something earlier and apparently it was deleted. The strange thing is that there was nothing derogatory. Huh.

Yes
You won't because of the tie breaker rule, you will surely get one in the next one!
New approach to rank candidates with the same CRS score
We can now break ties between candidates with the same rank in the pool.

The Express Entry system ranks candidates in the pool by their CRS score. In case of a CRS tie, the system will then rank all tied candidates based on the date and time that they submitted their profile.

For example:

The highest ranked candidates are invited during rounds of invitations. If we issue 3,500 invitations during a round, the system will pick the top 3,500 candidates at that time. The cut-off for the round is set by the CRS and submission date of the 3,500th candidate. It could look something like this:

Rank CRS Profile submission
(Date and time)

3498 422 October 14, 2016 at 20:40:56 Invited
3499 422 February 5, 2017 at 11:32:01 Invited
3500 422 March 27, 2017 at 08:12:23 Invited
3501 422 March 27, 2017 at 9:54:39 Still in the pool
3502 423 June 3, 2017 at 22:57:12 Still in the pool
Note, if you update your profile, the system will keep the original date and time stamp when you first submitted your profile. But, your profile will have a new time and date stamp if:

  • you choose to withdraw your profile and create a new one instead or
  • your profile expires and you submit a new one

Is it me or this table looks hopeful for 439 and possibly 438 for next draw?? In case it happens in 2 weeks of course.
Yes it is just you.

It seems that with the current size and draw frequencies, the bottom was practically hit right now. App. 3750 people will get 440+ points each 2 weeks.
And yes the total size of EE pool is still increasing (more people join that that are selected for ITA).
