Gift deed - Notarize or not?

Hello,

I´ve seen contradicting information on whether the gift deed letter should be notarized or not. Is there any conclusive information on this? Or is it up to the VO to decide?

Any input greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hello, there is no harm in notarizing it so do it, it will put an extra layer of authentication

Yes, you should get it notarised. i agree with @slash_splash, it will add weight to the authenticity of the document.

i ve gone through the format of Gift deed in this forum there 4 witnesses mentioned in deed 2 from donor and 2 from donee...but if donor is gifting from other country or city so how can donee witnesses be there at time of event??? plz look into this matter

My gift deed does not include witnesses, however it is notarized, so it adds authenticity. I am yet to send the application, so wait of others´ comments. But from what I read it should be fine as long as you include everything else (bank letter, statements, proof of transfer). etc.

Donee and donor have 2 different witnesses my dear. No issue you can have your own and the donor can have his.

As proof of gift, I provided a letter signed by my father where he says that the gift is irrevocable, plus his bank statements, the online transfer document, his ID and my birth certificate as proof of our relationship. However, the letter was not notarized - it was just a simple letter with his signature, obviously matching with his signature on his ID. In this case, am I in trouble for not getting his letter notarized? Thank you!

There is no such clear standard about gift deeds provided by CIC...but deeds kinda things are needed to get notazirsed for sure..as its legal consent. but u also shared statement of you father so they must consider it but u shuld have notarized...All the best

Get it notarized if it not very very expensive... there no per-requisite as such, some people do, other don't...

Thanks for the reply @bimale4bipeople ! It is just that I'm in Dubai right now, and heard it's rather expensive to get it notarized here. So I thought I could pass if not absolutely necesary.

I would suggest you to skip it then, as long you have other documents that you attach...
-Signed gift deed letter between you and family member
-bank statement of your and and your family member(to show the transfer of funds between both accounts)
-passport copy of the family member(to prove the relationship)
