Visitor visa or a Transit visa to claim asylum?

Hello. I want to apply for a refugee status in Canada but am currently located in EU. After reading some information on canada.ca it would seem that the easiest way for this is to make an asylum claim at a port of entry (once I arrive at the airport), correct? But would I need a Visitor visa or a Transit visa would be enough for this purpose? It seems that it would be easier to get the latter.

Please don't hesitate to give any additional advice. Many thanks.

A visitor visa and a transit visa are effectively the same thing. You must apply for a TRV in both cases. To be approved, you must show that you have strong ties to your home country / country of residence and have no plans on remaining in Canada long term.

In other words, lie? Because I don't plan on coming back, I need to leave and stay away from my home country.

No - I'm not saying you should lie. One should never lie in an IRCC application. Depending on the nature of the lie, you may end up with a 5 year misrepresentation ban from Canada. I'm explaining what it takes to get a TRV approved.

Are you aware that you are supposed to apply for asylum in the first safe country you enter. Have you already applied for asylum in the EU? As @scylla pointed out applying for a TRV from a 3rd country creates problems because you can't show tries to your own country.
