Hello!
I would like to update my current mailing address for my CIC application.
Can I give out my PO Box number as a secure mailing address for correspondence to be sent to or no?
Please advise.
Thanks kindly!
They may or may not accept this - I believe that they will accept RESIDENTIAL PO Boxes, but not PO Boxes that you rented as you have no fixed address in Canada. I say that because in many parts of Canada, the only thing that people have IS a residential PO Box - there is no delivery to the door. My own address is a case in point, I MUST provide the PO Box no that I have been allocated and use the postcode that I have been given for it (it is a box in the main Canada Post office for the town). They accepted this, but I suspect only because I wrote it down as (fictitious address BTW):
PO Box 123
1202 High Street
Townsville, ON
K4M 1T5
i.e. I specifically included my house number and street name as well as the PO Box number - I explained that without the PO Box number, the postal staff may not be able to find my box. I doubt they would accept a PO Box number that you rent as you don't have a permanent address.
