Hi everyone,
I'm in a complicated situation and I wondered if anyone has any advice.

My partner and I, both French citizen got our PR when we were working in Morocco in September 2017. We thought we had one year from this date to land in Canada. We passed our medical exam on the 3rd of July 2017.
My partner landed on the 25th of June to start his new job and confirmed his PR ( he is the main applicant).

I arrived in Canada on the 8th July 2017, five days after our medical expired (I did not know I had one year to and from the medical exam).

Immigration agent at Pearson Airport told me that my PR was expired, kept my passport and put me on an “entry for further examination of admissibility hearing”. They said that I should be able to get my PR extended for five days. I contacted Ottawa Processing centre but after 10 days no news and I have a hearing at Pearson the 7th of august ....

Any advice or tips on what I can do or who I can contact ? t

Thanks !

I don't think there's really anything you can do but wait for the hearing. Technically your COPR was no longer valid (I assume you now realize there was an expiry date on the COPR which it seems you completely missed). If IRCC goes by the books, your partner will need to sponsor you for PR and you'll need to go through the entire process from scratch. However it's certainly possible they may decide to break the rules and still let you land. It's an extremely unusual situation. I've been on this board for years and don't believe we've seen something like this before. So very hard to say what will happen.

You are fortunate that you are visa-exempt. If you had been issued an IM-1 visa, you would not even have been able to board the aircraft to Canada. Good luck.

In the letter that came with *my* COPR there a section dealing with the expiry date.

The expiry date appears on your COPR, in section 33 on the IMM5292 form, or following "Valid to:" in the "Application Details" section of the IMM5688 form. If you were also issued a counterfoil, its expiry date is printed on the top line, right hand side of the counterfoil which is in your passport, in the format of day, month, year(dd-mm-yyyy). You must arrive in Canada on or before this date. The expiry date is also listed on the first page of this letter.
YOUR DOCUMENTS HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE MAXIMUM VALIDITY. IT WILL NOT BE EXTENDED
If you do not use your COPR or, if applicable, your counterfoil before it expires, you will need to reapply for immigration to Canada. You will have to go through all processing steps again. Applications for permanent residence in Canada are assessed according to the laws and regulations in force at the time of their assessment. The fact that a COPR was previously issued to you does not mean that a subsequent application will also be approved.

Is this section no longer included in the document accompanying the COPR?
