If a foreign worker is accepted through the Global Talent Stream and receives a temporary Work Permit, does it mean this worker is entitled to receive 50 points at the Express Entry system because he has a job offer supported by an LMIA?
This is not correct, your offer of employment letter must contain a clause stating that they are willing to guarantee you employment for 1 year after PR, if not you will not receive the 50 points.Yes as long as your job offer is valid 1 year after the approval of your PR application. This means that your job offer must cover the 1 year + the PR processing time.
Hi Closingtime,Hi all, just bringing back an old thread.
If my employer gets their LMIA approved and the job offer is permanent do I qualify for the job offer backed by LMIA before I have completed 1 year of work experience in Canada ?
I thought the LMIA to support express entry application was separate from the TFWP LMIA which covers Global Talent Stream ?
No I did not.Hi Closingtime,
Did you get an answer to your question above? I also have the same query - "The positive LMIA received towards Global Talent Stream Work Permit can be used in the express entry application to receive additional 50 points?". Would be grateful if you can share new findings, if any.
Thanks!
Hi that is interesting thank you for the response.I also had similar query, if Approved Global talent stream application can be used for PR or not
I called up CIC to confirm and they answered that
Approved LMIA received should state it’s for federal skill worker and not temporary skill worker
If the heading of LMIA states temporary than you cannot use it for PR
If the LMIA heading states federal than only it can be used for PR
Hi did you applied for express entry using your LMIA for temporary work permitNo I did not.
I do however have lmia approved now, when my job becomes permanent I will enter the lmia number and complete the questions on my express entry profile and see what happens.
It seems to be that if you are working for the employer named on the lmia and have been offered a permanent position that the year requirement does not apply as that is for Canadian experience class and not federal skilled worker, but that is by no means a guarantee.
Fate willling my job Should be by the end of the year and I will try to remember to post here what the outcome was when I try for the points.
It is a crazy system.
Hello.Hi that is interesting thank you for the response.
That directly contradicts what the cic website says which is that if a job offer is issued to somebody on a work permit (same employer) and has an approved LMIA and the job offer is permanent that points can be claimed.

Am currently working on my lmia under a permit, job goes permanent in October. So will see how it goes. Worst comes to worst I can apply for pr after a year.
Most of the officials (not all) that I have interacted with so far during this process have been fairly unhelpful.
