Dear all,

I am new here, advanced thanks to everybody! I have a query, I shall provide a prologue as well. Please provide your suggestions.
ME :
29Yrs old (5th Aug 1989), married 2yrs ago. An IT professional working for Nokia as Quality Manager in Chennai, India. Experiencing parenthood, new born son is 70days old.
Holds bachelors degree in computer and masters in Systems engineering.
WIFE :
24yrs old (19Feb 1994). Proprietress/Owner of south indian classical dance school (Bharathanatyam).
Holds Bachelors degree in Commerce, Diploma in Montessori education, Diploma in Dance, Masters in Arts for Dance (bharathanatyam), currently pursuing MBA.

Query :
We have dilemma whether to process PR for both of us and the child at single go from India (ECA + IELTS + PR for both)
OR just process PR for myself and is it possible to bring wife and child as dependent?
Since she is not going to work there and we will eventually start the dance school there after sometime(maybe an year later).

Please help. sorry if the question was too lenghty.

If your CRS score together is over 440 then apply together.
Thank you, when I choose
"Will your spouse or common-law partner come with you to Canada? = NO" and fill the further entries the score is 470
"Will your spouse or common-law partner come with you to Canada? = YES" and fill the further entries the score is 472.

I am confused what this literally means.
If NO, does this mean,
1. I need not apply for ECA, IELTS, PR fee, RPRF fee for her and child.
2. Only I will get PR and she and child are dependents and they are eligible to come? OR they cannot travel with me at all and stay as dependents? 3. Is there a way to bring them here with Visitor visa(is that needed? Sure she is not gonna work till we get sponsor PR/visa)
4. For coming along, should she go through IELTS, ECA etc?
5. Can I apply for sponsorship later? Through which she and child can get PR later?

IF YES, does this mean,
1. We both will get PR. She will go through regular PR process and will do short landing and come back.

If she is not accompanying then you need to sponsor her later which could take over a year, no need for ielts, eca etc. But medicals are needed.
If she is accompaying and she is contributing towards the crs score, then she needs ielts, eca etc. Both will get PR together and can do the short land.
At 470 I think the choice is clear.

Thanks Again @navinball

If I am marking as not coming to Canada, is it possible to bring them to Canada as dependent or through tourist visa?

My ask is, I would like them to be here along with me to collect PR documents for short stay and after 3,4 months of myself moving to Canada and settling in a job as just dependents not looking to work until I sponsor and get her PR. (after an year as you have mentioned). Is it doable?

Basically, Can the dependents stay with PR holder?

Apologies for too many questions and if they are basic.

High chance the visitor visa will be denied because of immigrant intent. Why don't you apply together, score is high and most likely will be processed in a few months.

Oh.. So a dependent cannot come with PR holder until they get sponsorship? Even if they apply for tourist visa it will be rejected. Thanks again!

I thought just like blanket visas, dependents will be allowed to stay with PR holder if they have job and enough funds to support them.

Apply together. They can do a soft landing with you or after you (but within CoPR deadline), go back and come back at own their convenience, does not matter even if they come back year or two later after you.

You cannot call them as dependant later, you will need to initiate spousal visa for PR once you land & settle there, you cannot initiate from outside Canada.

Also you will need to justify in application why you are making it as spouse unaccompanied. All in all, its a no brainer.
