Can i still go to Canada to get my first H1b stamping done?

is it ok to go to canada and get my first H1b stamoing done?

Excuse my ignorance but you want to go to Canada to get your US H1B maybe explain with more information.

Earlier people used to go to US embassies in canada and mexico to get their H1b visas stamping done.the last case i know was early 2017 and from then on people started to go to their home country and get their stamping done.By stamping i mean those who converted from F1 to H1 and haven't go their stamping done.

I know someone who got H1b stamping done in Canada in late 2017. It's risky. If you get stuck with 221g then you will be stuck in Canada for 3-4 weeks.

For first stamping, you need to go to home country only. I know people who went to India just for this before landing as Canadian PR. As far as I know, although there is no written rule, embassy doesn't encourage such stamping particularly the ones that involve change of status.

I went for my first H1B stamping in Canada Oct 2017. There were no issues, except processing was a lot longer. Had interview Tuesday and didn't receive passport back till Monday following week.

I had my first H1B stamping in Canada late last year. I was changing from F1 to H1 and there were no issues....but granted every case is different
