Hi All,

I did not meet the residency obligation for the period of 2010 to 2015. My PR card expired in 2015. I went ahead and applied for a PRTD as I am outside of Canada in July 2018.

The results of the PRTD is that i should appeal within 60 days or renounce my PR as the explanation was not compelling enough for a renewal.

I calculated my points, and i have 476 points via Express Entry.

My questions are as follows:
1) If i proceed to renounce my expired PR card, and as I have the points for an ITA, would there be any road blocks if i reapply via Express Entry?
2) Also, i need to visit family in Canada in September. Would there also be any road blocks if i renounce my expired PR card and apply for a Tourist / Visitor Visa?

The idea is to apply for the Tourist Visa and visit family and at the same time work on the Express Entry profile by doing the language test and university degrees accreditation.

Thank you and looking forward to your help as this is a life changing decision.

Cheers

Just an update..

I was able to obtain PR again via express entry after renouncing the first time because i did not meet the residency obligation. When landing, immigration asked me "why had i change my mind to come back to Canada". They said its rare but they have seen people do this in the past.

I have a similar case as i do not meet residency requirements of 730 days. On top of it, my two kids do not have PR. So i am also thinking to renounce my PR.
Question1: How long it took to renounce the PR ?
Question2: How long it took to get the new PR via express entry ?
