Guys, for proof of funds will a official letter from the bank manager stating I have the necessary funds in my account with no debts be acceptable? I only recently opened a bank account specially for this purpose so I am not sure I can produce 6 month bank statement.

Letter is fine
Statements are not required but if you attach that it only strengthens your case and leaves little to no doubt in the mind of case officer that your account is in excellent condition

I am here in Canada, moved here in Feb 2017 on a work permit
So you used to live in Dubai previously. So how's life been in Canada till date. Do you feel it was the right choice and move to make or you still feel that Dubai was better.

Yeah, for a good 15 yrs... and definitely it was a very good time in Dubai, developed a lot of skills and grew professionally.
The reason of moving here was the fact that I was looking at the future prospects. Dubai is a beautiful mirage in the desert, but at the end of the day we are still expat in there.
There are direct taxes here in Canada on your income, but that translates to social security aspects(basic healthcare, education, etc. ) on the other hand.
There is a major salary package difference between the 2 countries and you will come

- https://www.glassdoor.com/Salaries/toronto-business-development-manager-salary-SRCH_IL.0,7_IM976_KO8,36.htm (Yearly package before tax)

I have found cost of living in Canada less expensive than Dubai.

Oh you where here quite a long time. Same here with me. I have been here for 24 years now. I totally agree with you Dubai is a mirage. Its all good but the biggest drawback is you can never be permanent here and now seemed like the best time to move on for something better and Canada seemed the beat choice as its accepting expats with open arms for now. For how much longer time will only tell.

Yes, I am aware that there are direct taxes there but like you mentioned you get social benefits so its fine to pay these. Here you have so many indirect taxes on top now you have VAT. The coat of living has just shot up even more. So this is one other big reason to move.

I had read a few posts on Quora about people saying salaries are not that high in Canada if you compare to US or even Dubai. But as long as you can earn enough and live a decent life I think you are all good.

Lastly I did hear that getting a job is bit difficult there as they ask for " canada experience". How much of that is true I am not so sure. But then we will have to test the waters for ourselves before we can know exactly.

If I may ask, what kind of profession are you in?

Well I am into accounts and finance. I am currently working with one of the best Airlines in the world. I am also looking into the IT sector jobs also as my wife is a Software QA lead. So if we both get good jobs then we are all set.

We will start applying a 1-2 months before we actually land there after our PR is approved.

My AOR is 26th May. Does that means that while calculating POF they will convert it as per exchange rates of that day or as per exchange of the day when visa officer will open the file for calculating POF?
