Hi,

My son (age 28) is currently in Australia under work permit after completion of Masters' in Engineering from Australia. But we as parents recently settled in Canada having PR status. Under skilled worker EOI process, it seems difficult as he has achieved only 405 points. Is there any ways under federal or Provincial Nominee program that i can sponsor him?

I need my son to be at least in same country where we are.

Any suggestion or guidance will be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

There are no options that would allow you to sponsor him. He will have to qualify to immigrate independently through an economic stream.

Given his EE points are only 405, he should be looking at the PNP programs to see if he can qualify through one of those.

Is there any Alberta PNP program that allows him to apply?

There is no Alberta PNP program that allows you to sponsor him.

It's possible he may qualify for the Alberta PNP program on his own - he will need to research the program requirements to find out.

The rule is under 22, so max is actually 21.
If you want to get really specific, it's 21 years 364 days max (up to the day before 22nd birthday).

Your 21 max implies any day past 21st birthday doesn't count.

While I was only joking on the use of MAX terminology, you need to understand the use of MAXIMUM (MAX). Maximum means no more than. 21 max implies no older than 21 years old and not a day older. You do realize that a person is still getting older after their birth dates. If I want water heated to 21C max, I don't want water heated to 21.5C or to 21.9C.

It really doesn't imply that. A person is 21 until they turn 22, whether they're 21 and a day or 21 and 360 days.

Your analogy is incorrect because with the exception of young children, people don't generally refer to their age in years and months/days. If i asked how old you are, you aren't going to say "21 and 4 months." You are going to say "21".

True, but you or I will never say "21 max" either.

Your son is clearly missing some points for EE.

Given your info, it should not be points for education.

So he either:
1. does not have enough work experience (ideally 3 years)
2. does not have good enough language test. (CBL9+)
or both.

So the remedy to the first one is to work a bit more, until he will get his 3 years. And the second one is in redoing IELTS.

Anyway given his age he can easily score 460+ if he has good language test and those 3 years of work experience.
So no needs to worry there, he can make it on his own.
