Hi! I am from India and I went to Canada on TRV for short term studies last year in August for three months. During this trip I married my boyfriend after six years of relationship in November. He is a Canadian citizen. Thereafter, I came back to India and now we are preparing my file for PR. I have two following questions:

1. I am almost done with my PhD and will be submitting my thesis soon. Do I need IELTS for this visa category, since I wish to either work or look into postdoctoral position in Canada. If yes, should I be looking into Academic or General IELTS?

2. None of our parents attended the wedding because we never wanted to spend unnecessary money. We did a small engagement with a gathering of around 30-35 friends and colleagues and wedding in City Hall with 3 close friends. My husband's sister was present for both the ceremonies. Do you think that can create problem in our file since I read a thread that said that big fat weddings are expected from countries like India?

That's all for now! I truly appreciate this forum because this forum is the reason I got my TRV last year. Thank you in advance for this time.

there is no formal language requirements for this visa class so you don't need a IELTS to apply as a PR. However some schools/universities might stil require a proof of proficiency in english or french if they are not your primary languages in order to proceed to further studies.
