OSAP Funding for newly landed immigrants

Hi,

Are newly landed immigrants in Ontario eligible for OSAP funding assistance?

there are numerous answers and threads which doesnt give a clear answer to the below.
Really hope someone could throw some light on this.

Yes, I did..
It says PR holders are eligible, but wanted to make sure if we are eligible for OSAP right away or do we have to live for sometime in Ontario to be eligible for OSAP..

can you help us by asking your friend if they resided in Ontario for 12 months before applying or got OSAP as a newly landed immigrnt?? And whether they were married or single at the time of OSAP application?

I landed in July 2017 and got OSAP for a post graduate program that started in September. We are a family of 5.

This lights up my hope a bit, thank you. I'm applying for college for this September intake and thinking of OSAP too.
The application requires us to submit "tax information", which "includes income and other information found in an income tax return". As a new immigrant, what was the exact documents you submitted? As we can only apply after landing and having the SIN, I wanna make sure I'll bring necessary documents from my home country if that's requested.

As you can't provide CRA tax returns for last year, you will have to provide alternative income verification documents such as tax returns from you home country. If you are married, you will need to provide the same information for your spouse.

Ru sure that we do not need to wait for 12 months to be eligible for OSAP? Can u share ur contact details? I really need some assistance in this regards.

Didn't you have to fulfill the "12 months residency" criterion to be eligible?
I contacted ServiceOntario directly and they kept telling me I need to be in Ontario for 12 consecutive months first before I can apply

Nothing is mentioned about the 12 month rule on the website

I know, and I brought that up when making my inquiry too but the replies I got back from ServiceOntario all said I'd need those 12 months.

Thats weird,i think you should try asking someone else or even applying
