Hi,
I've been living in Toronto for 3 years and decided to apply for PR under Self employed program as I don't have enough points for Entry Express.
My goal is to submit my application before second week of August (I have already did language test, certificate evaluation, etc.).
I've already documented myself a lot, especially following the links of this thread few pages before. I've been working as a freelance designer (NOC 5241) for the animated film industry and my clients are international. One of my most important client is Universal Pictures (Despicable Me, Minions, Sing, Secret Life of Pets...).

I have a few questions.

On the government website, it says that Relevant experience is two one-year periods. What does that mean exactly ? I mean, I already got two T4 which proves I was self employed between Jan 1st, 2016 to Dec. 31st 2017, but some weeks, I didn't work at all ? Are the two T4 relevant for proving I've worked for two years already ?

In my application, how do I prove that my activity is a cultural activity, world-class level ? Do I need to put some artworks that I did, some informations about the movies I worked on, etc ?

One last question, I have worked for clients internationally (France, USA, Canada) but 90% of my clients are based in France. Could this be a problem regarding the following point "can contribute to Canada’s economy in one of the required areas." - I mean the fact that I work more with clients from France/USA than from Canada?

Thank you.

No I didn't submit a business plan. I'm a writer. I did provide a narrative of what I plan to do once I get to Canada.

Schedule 6A. Yes I wrote a narrative document about where all my money comes from and signed. It was less than a page I think

Hi,

I have gone through the CIC website for self employed immigration under cultural activities. I am interested in applying for it as I am a freelance web and graphic designer.

Can anyone share a good consultant contact details here who deals in self employed immigration visa ?

I tried but hardly any consultant has knowledge about it.....

From the little you have written there sounds like you're all set. i mean you have done work for universal on big shows. I had only done work for a regional newspaper and I was successful. Just use the operation manual (link on the first page) and let it guide you through the process. You should do well

Your narrative is your story, so each is unique. No one else's narrative is of any use to you. The narratives my husband and I wrote for our application were pages long, so there's no "draft" to follow. Just tell your story.

Thank you but do you think I need to include artworks and details about the films ? or should I just explain everything in the narrative ?

Our attorneys suggested we include everything and anything. They said the more you can document up front, the better off you are. If you have images that will confirm what you describe or substantiate your claims, I think you'd probably benefit from including them.

Thank you, I just noticed this line in the Document checklist (IMM 5784) though saying « Do not send any additional documents when submitting your application to CIO », so it might be a bad idea to include them, at least for now, what you guys think?

Also, I have asked for an Educational Credential Assessment for my certificate - thinking it was required as it is for Entry Express but I haven’t been able to find any mention regarding this requirement for the SE stream? Did I pay for something not required? Is only a copy of certificate required?

Our application was submitted by a large immigration firm in Halifax, and we provided what they asked us for. In the end, it was over 200 pages long. The images I am talking about are part of our narratives and statements that demonstrate my husband's work experience (farm manager).

Thanks again. As for the Educational Credential Assessment, did you ask for it ? I think I did a big mistake asking for it ($250) whereas I think this is not required at all...
I might have the possibility to cancel it though and get a partial refund, but I will need to know what you guys did ?

Oh, yes. The attorney had us do that up front so that we'd have the assessment before the application went in. We're on the older side, so our education gives us much needed points. We also did the IELTS right away, too, so that all of those results would be included in the packet.

Hi, thanks for sharing your experience. I have a question and I hope someone can answer it.
So I submitted my application under the self employed - cultural activities in Canada on March 2018, and I've got the confirmation on early of June 2018.
And my current work permit is expiring soon which cannot be renewed due to the contract. Now, is there any way that I can stay in Canada while waiting for the PR result? Thank you!
