i can only answer wrt to my application. I had only one trip to the states during my eligibility period. I had trips prior to my eligibility period in other languages. I did not have a translation and it seemed to be fine.I heard that in some interviews, the officer also asks for translation of Visa stamping (if it is not in English).
Can the officer ask for translation of stamping which are more than 5 years old ?
Sometimes you have a stamping in passport which is more than 5 years older. But in the citizen application you take into consideration only trips whcih are made after you became PR.
Having said that, if the visa officer is not able to confirm that those stamps are from before your eligibility period it could be an issue. At that time, the visa officer will ask you to get those stamps translated.
