Confused about IEC....

Okay guys, so I have the letter of introduction for IEC. And this expires February next year.

However, my ETA expires the same date as my old passport (August). And I cannot see how to update this on the site.

If I go there with my new passport would they update it there or would I not be allowed in?

My work permit is unitl February next year and my ETA until August this year.

Am I right in thinking the work permit will be for 365 days after entry? Do I need a job lined up in advance or not? It does not say clearly on the LOE.

Any information would be helpful.

Just apply for a new eTA when you get your new passport.

Your letter of introduction is valid until Feb. Your work permit will be issued when you enter and the validity will depend on your country's IEC agreement. You do not need a job lined up.

Note to get the full term work permit you must land with travel insurance covering the full term else your permit will be based on whatever insurance you have plus of course proof of funds 2500 CDN minimum. You may or may not be asked to show both but will look foolish if you do not have them.

As Canuck says you do not need a job, the permit is an open work permit and apart from not being to work in health or with children without a medical you can work any where or not work at all.

Should not be a surprise that you need insurance. As for where to buy depends where your home country is, many UK people for example use True Traveller given for UK IEC they need 2 years insurance. Whether they are cheap or supply EU applications no idea.

Usually upto 12 months from the date it is issued. Will be clearly stated on the letter the date you must enter by.The actual work permit is issued when you land in Canada and the work permit time starts from then
