Is it worth coming to canada in winters considering job opportunities availability and finding a place to stay especially if one is going to a very cold province?

Where are you going? Personally, I'm heading to Vancouver, BC, and I will go in the winter because it's so much easier to find a place to stay in the winter than in the summer :)

I am going to regina due to pnp. Why is it easier to find places in winter?
Lower demand. Less people move to Vancouver in the winter than in the summer. Especially because university starts in September, so tons of people coming over the summer up to September/October

hello!

I have a few questions I'm hoping people will chime in on...

About us:
EE FSW Outland
AOR May 22
Medicals passed June 2

We currently live in Paris, France. Does that automatically mean our application will be processed in the Paris office? (I sent an email to the Ottawa address at the top of this thread for confirmation. The reply email said they don't answer questions about visa offices. Is this your experience too?)

We are considering leaving France in October and staying with family in the US for a time. *If* we change our address to be in the US before PPR, does anyone know how (if at all) this will impact our application processing?

Thanks!

Lower demand. Less people move to Vancouver in the winter than in the summer. Especially because university starts in September, so tons of people coming over the summer up to September/October
Whether your plan to move in summer or winter, that is of no consequence, except that if you are not accustomed to the winters, i.e. Canadian winters, you will find it difficult initially. But with the right investment in your winter gear, your life will be easy.

There are job opportunities throughout the year and you should start working on networking before you land in Canada. Update your linked profile, get your resume ready, see job postings etc.

As regards housing, finding a house in winter is comparatively difficult than in summer. This is because most houses are rented on a1 year lease. So if the lease ends in winters, the demand is less and it becomes difficult for the landlord to rent it again for the next few months. Also moving in winters is difficult, slippery roads, gets messy inside if there is snow outside and you have to carry furniture or stuff inside from your truck, and you won't keep taking your boots off every time. Also, your own enthusiasm to visit apartments decreases in winters due to cold. In summer is you visit 10 apartments, in winters, you would only feel like visiting 5-6.

However, do your research and be pro active, ask questions, and read the online resources.

There are two factors that determine where your application will be processed.

1. Your country of residence - The visa office which will issue your the PPR will always be the VO in your country of residence. This is where you will send your passport. After the application is processed initially at CIO, it is sent to LVO for further processing.

2. The country where you claim your work experience. - In some cases where IRCC wants to verify your work experience, they will send your application to the country where you worked, before it is sent to the LVO. This is because for some application local knowledge is important.

If you change your country of residence, you should inform IRCC of the same, this will change your LVO. For US residents CPC Ottawa is the LVO. It is faster in processing than the Paris LVO.

Hi guys,

just called CIC this morning. The agent told me she had to put me on hold to verify something coz my application is in Calgary right not. She thinks is weird since I live in Toronto. so she spoke to an senior agent an told me that it might be just the workload distribution. I was also told my eligibility is passed and BGC is undergoing. she said once the BGC is complete they will do a final review and reach out an final decision.

Anyone is also being processed in Calgary ? and is it normal for my application being processed in Calgary since I am in Toronto?
