Hi,
I had a question- if I get an Express Entry ITA under the PNP program (FSWP stream), and I ignore or decline it, what happens then? Assuming I want or feel I need more time to get some things in order before I initiate the EE application, is there a downside to ignoring or declining an ITA under the PNP program? Do I not get another one again? Am I returned to the pool?
Please advise :)

Deadline for responding to an ITA

Upon receipt of an ITA, a candidate has 60 calendar days to do one of the following:

1) Submit a complete application for permanent residence (APR) in their MyCIC account. This includes providing all supporting documentation up front.
2) Decline the ITA in their MyCIC account, if the candidate is not ready to apply within 60 calendar days of receiving the ITA or if they believe that a change in their circumstance has made them ineligible to be invited. In this case, the candidate’s profile will remain “active” in the pool for the remaining days of the profile’s validity and the candidate will be considered for future rounds of invitations, as long as they continue to meet the MEC.

If the candidate does not respond to the ITA (i.e., the candidate does not submit a complete APR within 60 calendar days of receiving the ITA and does not formally decline the ITA within this delay), the ITA will expire and the candidate will no longer be in the Express Entry pool. To enter the pool again, the candidate must submit a new profile in their MyCIC account and be assessed for the MEC at that time.

Note: It is the candidate's responsibility to check their MyCIC account frequently. CIC does not grant extensions to the 60-calendar-day deadline for submitting a complete APR. Where candidates claim they did not check their MyCIC account or read their ITA letter, this is not a valid reason for an extension.

Thank you! So basically, as long as I am over the cutoff, I will still get invited in the next round assuming my profile is valid?
Also, +1 for the helpful answer :)

Not a problem. Your PN stays alive for a year, in most cases, so you can afford to decline an ITA or two while you get your documents in order. When you decline an ITA, your profile is automatically returned to the pool so there is zero downside to doing that.

Thank you! I think I will do that, so I have my FBI PCC in order

EDIT: And +1 to you as well for all the help you have provided :)

Aagorn, I am not sure which country you are applying from, but I hope you know you can apply without a PCC provided you have proof that you have applied and that it will be ready soon. I did this and I got PPR. The uncertainty in the scores and timing of the ITAs make it worth a try

I am applying from India, but I lived in the US for the last five years, so I need an FBI PCC as well, which takes up to 14 weeks.
I am not too fussed about an uncertainty in scores, thanks to my provincial nomination, my score is high enough that it should remain over any cutoffs for the foreseeable future. I would, however, like to apply once with a complete application, instead of having this lack of a PCC hanging over my head.

I am planning to decline the ITA. Will the 600 points still be active or I have to ask for nomination again ? If I decline now, does the system automatically send a new ITA if teh score is above the threshold ?

Separately, if I decline ITA, can I edit my Express Entry Profile (like update to work experience, etc.). Will this affect my nomination ?

Thanks.

My CRS was 411 and I received PNP recently from NS. I accepted the PNP and received ITA last week. At this time, I would like to go with FSW as the scores are pretty low and not thru PNP (ie. do not want to restrict to a province). 1. Can i create a new profile that not shows the PNP? 2. The questionnaire asks, do you have an Nomination, can i give NO to this? (which is misrepresenting) 3. Will it affect my application for PR for having 2 profiles? Thoughts pls!

What eventually happened? Did you decline and still have your 600? Im in same shoe
i emailed OINP, they transfered my 600 points to the new profile after i explained everything to them.

I did same and now have a fresh ITA.
Thanks

Hi Guys, can you shed some more info on this situation. I have a PNP nomination from ontario and have received an ITA, but I am currently travelling. If I reject this ITA, do I have to create a new profile? What did you mean when you said "new profile" and we need to reach out OINP to transfer 600 points? My profile and nomination are both valid through December and nothing needs to be changed in them.

You can reject ITA and you will get new one in next draw, you dont need to create new profile to get ITA again, new profile is needed when you neither accept nor decline and your profile is not valid anymore.
