I just noticed that my mom (55+)'s status changed to DM! I am not sure when it exactly changed to DM as I didn't check it last 1.5 weeks on ECAS.
This is kind of exciting!! We are now waiting for her oath date with you guys! :)

when we had our test our officer told us that they are under huge pressure about "processing time must be 1 year or less"

PS last weekend talked to "old-days immigrants", one couple was waiting for citizenship for about 6 years. “I cried because I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet.” :)

Do you understand how average calculated? Explain to me if you know it.
My point is, the "1 year" processing time is a target that IRCC is working towards for clearing all routine applications. Its not an average processing time, i don't think we've seen cases recently where a citizenship application was processed in 18 months for example, or 20 months, which would've been the case if the 1 year was actually an "average processing time".

Now with that said, there are offices like Ottawa who exceed the target and clear most applications in 5 or 6 months, and there's an office that we all know of, that isn't able to plan ceremonies beyond 2 weeks ahead and post them on a website (like other offices do).

Just to be clear, this is my own opinion, i'm not trying to convince you or anyone else on anything.

I believe it have to do with the agent handling the file. I remember when I went for my test the agent said the processing time is 1 year and I was hoping I don’t get her as my agent because she looks like someone who would try to prove a point and drag the application to 1 year and guess what I got her as my agent and I just had a bad feeling I guess I was right.
I think we met the same agent. She told me that "if she approve my application" then I should expect Oath in October

Some people come to this country from very desperate situations and unfortunately they remain schakled to their former reality. So, they don't understand how valuable they are to this country. They think Canada is doing all immigrants a favor by allowing them to become citizens. A lot of us came here because we were invited by Canada. On one hand we came for the opportunities, on the other Canada got some of the best minds in the world. It's a win-win. It doesn't matter if you came here on humanitarian ground, as a refugee etc. Canada sees value in you/us. It's mutually beneficial to both parties.
Thanks for writing my thoughts exactly, we are valuable to Canada or they would not have opened their borders. As law abiding, tax paying and hard working immigrants, we also deserve the same dignity extended to all people in Canada.
While I am ok with the wait as long as it is not beyond October which is my 12 month mark I think it is agonizing to see other October applicants being able to vote in this important election and not me.

Same way Canada and tax payers expect immigrants to follow these things?
1. Time you enter here as immigrant, tax payers paid thousands to helped you settle down. So Canada expect then not to leave after passport before paying enough taxes. Does all immigrants doing this?
2. canada expect you not to take social assistance, cheat system to gain more tax return. Does all immigrants doing this?
3. Canada expect you not to lie in any kind of immigration document . Does all immigrants doing this?
4. Canada giving refugee status to people and saving their life. Are most of them in danger? There are thousands getting visitor visa and claiming refugee on airport. They must be well off to get the visitor visa. How come they are going to visit their home country after passport?
5. I don't have true number but I can tell by looking around, more than 50% immigrants specially south asian and arabic country took more from canada than what they paid in taxes.

So there are some people don't do things right what canada expect them to do, then how you would expect canada would do 100 right all the time?
Canada does not think like you of which I am grateful.

There’s is also people who come to this country and work very hard and also very honest some of them do double job don’t even have dinner or breakfast with their family to survive in Canada because they love it here and they end up paying way more taxes than some of us with a single job because they love Canada.
It is difficult to convince law abiding people that people can be fraudulent just like it is difficult to convince criminal minds that some people actually obey the laws. I feel your pains.

Citizenship also cost a lot less a long time ago, the fees were increased significantly in order to reduce the wait time.

well, but now - you can videocall your relatives every day and chat for hours with them (used to: letters with weeks/months delivery time). Only this creates an advantage bigger than anything else :)

PS I was disappointed that my time on a Work Permit had stopped being counted towards Citizenship requirements (I still do not understand why they decided to do that). I've been working since my 1st week in Canada, paying taxes and was OK about this rule "2 days count as 1".

PPS I don't think Canada do most of us a favor letting us be here - it should be win-win (and I'm sure it is for most of us here). I'm sure they are very pragmatic about immigration.

A lot of us were invited ?? lol. Did canada sent visitor or immigrant visa package to your(lot of us) home before applying for it?
Yes, in some sense. A lot of people came to Canada via Provincial Immigrant Nominee Sponsorship program. Canadian employers went to European countries and gave job offers to people to come and work for them here. There was an express processing of Work Permits and Residency for those people.
You still had to apply yourself and pay all the fees like everyone else, but it was because you were invited by Canada (Canadian employers) to come and work here.

Yes. When canada doesn't find cleaners from canada. It's not only european but many other country. But those are not many. Job offer never gave to someone without that person applying for it. LOL.

It wasn't jobs for cleaners, just skilled workers and people with trades that Canadian employers couldn't find here.
We went to job expo and after normal interview the job offer was given. It was Canadian employers asking people for interview, not other way around.
I feel like we were invited here, we didn't have to beg or ask for it and we could easily say "no" to the offer that was given.

Some people "begged" to come here. So, they can't understand many others were "invited" through different programs. Don't try to explain... They're are too binary to understand.
