Hi,
I'm moving to Toronto in September to start a two-year post-doctorate position at the UoT. My partner will be coming with me but while I'm able to get an employer-specific visa we're unsure of which visa she should get. We have considered applying for the IEC but as we're from the UK that's likely to be difficult!
We've been together for 4 years but have never lived together (except for 4 months whilst we were travelling) so would not meet the requirements to be classed as in a common-law relationship. Marriage has never really been a priority for us which is probably not going to cut it to be considered in a "conjugal" relationship. Am I correct in my thinking here? Are we just going to have to bite the bullet and hope she is invited to apply for an IEC? Since this is likely to be a lengthy process - would she be able to visit me whilst she's a candidate for an IEC, providing she has a return ticket?
Many thanks in advance
