Hi,

I'm an october applicant waiting for test invite. I am wondering if there is anybody here who requested ATIP from CSIS? When we see a delay in processing of an application, it is usually because of the background check.

You could try but you're not likely to get any useful information.
If it shows completed then that means that you should follow up with the local office.
Have you ever ordered that? What did it show?

According to CSIS website, it doesn't show you anything about the check being 'completed' or something like that, it only shows information that would be used for the check... anyway, I ordered one late last month and should receive it in about 2 or 3 weeks, will find out what it says..

Thank you for your reply. When you are requesting, there is a mandatory field asking for explanation. What did you write there? I don’t know what to say?

I don't remember, just something normal, I probably mentioned citizenship application and/or job applications

1. If you are an October applicant then there is no delay yet as they specifically mentioned 12 months processing time.
2. What will be the point of that report? it's not like that you will be able to find an error and call the Call Center.
Just relax and continue with your life. Citizenship will come :)

If anybody is thinking about requesting information from CSIS, don’t bother ... just got mine today , basically says it is still in process and can’t reveal any details lol

So you ordered GCMS notes and know it's the security check that's slowing you down? CSIS is like the CIA/FBI of Canada and they should be the most efficient government branch, otherwise our national security is in trouble. Still lot's of people's security checks are slow... It makes sense they can't tell you exactly what they're checking, though. If you don't mind me asking, are your from the middle east, or have any flags that could trigger an extensive check?

It really wouldn't surprise me to find that while IRCC may have staffed up and changed processing procedures to help the onslaught of applications in October, that other agencies didn't do the same and were caught understaffed and unprepared. And as you mention, national security is there top priority, so that's where the money is going where staffing priorities are concerned. Just my two cents.

Nope , none of those ‘questionable’ places and ethnic background lol - not that I have any problem with them - haven’t never even changed my address since PR

Then either you're unlucky to get your file stuck somewhere, or CSIS is really getting bogged down by the increase of volume since Oct..

Could be, or maybe I had too many trips to the US -- actually only about 15 trips in the last 5 years and each time about 2-4 days, all for work, and people with more trips and longer absence got through with no problem -- but the only thing I don't get is, how come it doesn't happen to people who's files are sent to some places but almost to everybody in, for example, Mississauga office - if you check the Oct spreadsheet, the remaining ones without a test invite are mostly assigned to that office - since security is not done by local office but by CSIS, there shouldn't be that correlation

You're right. That is very odd. It's almost like your current location requires more scrutiny from CSIS for some reason o_O

The worst part is, I don't even live there LOL.. some of my neighbors in the same area got assigned to Scarborough while myself and a couple of equally unlucky ones got assigned to Mississauga
