Hello

I recently lost my student visa and applied for the new replacement through CIC.
According to Homepage, I can only mail to the Immigration Department in order to get this kind of visa(Application for a Verification of Status or Replacement of an Immigration Document).
So, I sent all the documents I need(police report, certificate of birth, my official ID etc...) with the full application 2 weeks ago.
I was not able to send it from South Korea as EMS(Express Mail Service) which allows me to track down and get informed me where it is.
For some reasons, Korean post office does not provide EMS service to Canadian PO box, but the address has to be there you know..
anyway, I sent it as just regular mail, but the fact that I cannot track down makes me really freak out.
It is very important documents, and I am going back to Canada again this August.
I am very worried that the border agent will not allow me to come to Canada because I don't have a student visa with me.
Also, I need to have it to apply for my Co-op visa. (That's a requirement to graduate the college.)

Do you guys have any advice?
Do you think the border agent will understand my situation if I show all the documents I have?
Thank you for reading this.

If you're not in Canada now. you cannot get a new permit, So staying in Canada is a must

I'm afraid you didn't follow what the guide says, they ask you :
1. Original Application form
2. Photocopy of your passport
3. Photocopy of Birth Cert(South Korea : Basic Certificate, Family Relations Certificate accompanied by the translation from Certified Kor-Eng Translator in Canada)
Extra : Photocopy of Marriage (SK : with Translation by Certified Translator in Canada)
4. Receipt of Online Payment ($30)

Police certificate..is not required in this moment.
and you must not print your certificate online, better to visit your town office, or korean consul in Canada, because colored stamp is very important

I suggest you to
Take a risk (take a photocopy of SP if you have, and explain when you reach the port of entry, that you lost it.)
of buying flight ticket for nothing if you get refused. They can reprint a new hardcopy for you for $30, I read it on korean blog
It could be the cheapest way because you don't need to pay for translation of your documents. I cannot guarantee.
Translation costs $50 per Cert (Basic, Family, Marriage), and I think you can apply for your COOP permit at the airport.
It may require you Letter of attendance I don't know.

If you can use eTA, just think about it. then you can proceed with paper based application. it takes roughly 1 month.

So forget about the application they won't send you any visa abroad,

Hi there

Thank you so much for your interest
I didn't mention everything what I submitted with the application, but I followed every guide on the CIC homepage

Here is what I sent
1. Original Application form
2. Photocopy of the passport
3. Photocopy of Birth Certificate
- Family Relations Certificate (the government office officially translated it, so I didn't need a help from translator at all )
- Photocopy of Marriage (Since I am not married and never have married before, I didn't need it)
4. Receipt of Online Payment ($30) (I paid it, emailed it to me and printed it)
5. The official document: Lost Property Document from South Korean Police office(the official document was in English, also I didn't need any translation at all)
***every document I sent, I didn't photocopy by myself, everything officially printed by the office(with their stamp and signature everything)

You said, forget about the application they won't send you any visa abroad.
but I wonder why cause CIC didn't mention anything about it.
I didn't know that I cannot apply the replacement of my student visa from abroad.

Here is my thought, I would love to hear your opinion on that (It would help a lot, I am very desperate and my school is not helping me at all)
I am going to bring all the documents I sent (from 1 to 5) on the day I am going back to Canada, simply explain my situation to the border agent.
I heard that I can get a new student visa at the airport (I remember I got it from the airport when I frist arrive in Canada)
Do you think it's possible?
There is no agency I can get a help in South Korea
The one that I have been using refused to help me because they say they are not dealing with this kind of situation
They just say you gotta do it yourself just go to CIC homepage

Again, thank you so much your help

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Refer to [Complete of the application Part-A Question 15]

Indicate your current mailing address:
  • Post Office (P.O.) Box number
  • Apartment or unit number
  • Street number
  • Street name
  • City or town
  • Country
  • Province/state
  • Postal code
  • District
If the country in which you reside does not use any of these values, please ensure a complete address for the country in which you reside is included.

If you are requesting a replacement of a valid temporary resident document, a Canadian mailing address MUST be provided.

------------------------------------
So if you have a friend who can receive the mail you may make a change of address on the link

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/change-address.html

it takes 5 days, so if you are of luck then you can change 'the Mailing address' in that case you can have the permit perhaps.
or the last resort will be presenting your passport (and photocopy of your SP) when you arrive at the airport.
As I know, none of korean those certificates are issued in English. I wonder how you got that.
Police thing is not important, you can just clarify how you lost it.
As you saw my timeline, there isn't much time.

If you don't have any friend, then I'm thinking about using mailing address of baesongdaehaengji
I'm not sure it works. its your own risk.

https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx?_ga=2.216820118.1844941984.1527826210-1194103639.1522129134

fill this web form to change the mailing address.

Thank you so much
Luckily, my roommate will be able to take it, so I think that works
I have a question about Identification number
In order to go through the address change process, I need my own Identification number.

https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/redir.do?redir=id_num&lang=en&app=coa

But I don't think there is any right section for me.
I am not either permanent resident or citizen of Canada
I also checked my receipt I got, but there isn't any valid number for that.
How do I know my identification number
I don't even have a copy of my student visa, so if it is written there, there is no way I figure it out

For my last resort, (if I cannot change my address in a time) I think I will apply it again with Canadian number
It is not hard to get supporting documents again, so I think I will try to apply it one more time.
If it is, do you think I should pay the fee and get the new receipt again?

replacement of document category isn't popular enough for Online status, so i told to use a web form.

I just successfully submitted my address change.
Just in case, I attached my old application there.

Also, It says if it is on normal process(not the urgent one), you will not get a reply.
But how do I know if they get my documents or change my address if I cannot get informed
Since I didn't mail them as EMS, I cannot track it down, so if they don't tell me I will never know if they are working on it or not.
Sorry, I just cannot wait for nothing.
I really appreciate your help a lot.
I cannot believe that I lost my study permit and didn't read the steps carefully.
I am super clumsy but I think I should be more careful in terms of visa stuff...
