I am Jan 2017 applicant with spouse . Depended child was added in July 2017.
Spouse and kid are living outside Canada .

Today i have received my GCMS notes .
Eligibility, Criminality and Medical are passed but Security is not started .

Many of Jan 2017 applicants already got PR .However our Security is not started yet .

Try to call them, your notes only give you status from the date you ordered them (means more than a month old). But just so you know, I am Feb 9, 2017 applicant, called them yesterday and security is not started yet, who knows what they are doing...

In notes security is not started .However , BG check is in-progress since 27 Feb 2018 . Strange !!

you are now at 17-months processing time. still 1-more month due time for 18-months. some times they will finish BG check in one day . Don't loose hope

I think everybody from first half of 2017 who hasn't received PPR is in that same status of the security hasn't started.

After reading about GCMS notes and security checks in the past few days, i only have two explanations for that:
1. they are preparing to send applications for the security check in a batch
or
2. they are doing the security check already but the status doesn't reflect that for some strange reason (could be for security purposes or smth). If they are doing the security check, there should be several activities pertaining to that in your GCMS notes. My April notes only show 2 activities in the Security check part, one of which is redacted (I suspect it's my spouse's details that's why they are redacted), so I think my security check truly hasn't started yet, but who knows what's happened in the past 2 months.

I sure hope they're just gathering all the remaining January applications to send PPRs in a large batch. It really doesn't make any sense how they do the security check like 5x faster some some applications and take forever for Provincial Nominees.

I know it's done by other agencies. I just read somewhere that for Security check 'not started' sometimes means it's already underway.

I know somebody who got their PPR in 3 weeks after submission of Express Entry application.
