Hey guys ;D

I had applied for student visa (for this Sept. session), but I got a refusal stating "Purpose of visit" as the reason. So, now my option is to either wait for next Sept. session & again apply for student visa (that course is only available in Sept session) or I could try to apply under the FSWC (as soon as they starts accepting the files again).

As, I was simply focusing on the student visa, so right now I do not have much clue about skilled worker immigration. I've gone through various threads & other websites, here's what I understand so far (based on the proposed FSWC point system):
I've done Bachelor's of Engineering in Computers (2010).
After that I did a job as Web developer (PHP) for another year and then I started freelancing (but I can show the experience as Software developer (JAVA) as I was working with some company on contract basis).
Will take the general IELTS (right now have academic with 7.5 overall L-8, R-8.5, W-6, S-6.5)

I've calculated the points as below
Age 12
Education 21
Language (English) 20-22
Experience 11
Making it a total of 64-66 (depending on the language score)

Am I calculating it right? :-X

So, if I'm able to make my points 67 (by taking some french exam), will I be eligible to file for the immigration without any job offer or any other requirements? How long will the whole process take?

Another question is regarding the sponsorship. Can a non-blood relative residing in Canada sponsor someone? If yes, then does it add some points for the immigration?

Thanks. ;D

In order to apply for FSW without a job offer next year - your occupation will have to appear on the list of desired occupations. Before CIC stopped accepting applications without job offers, there were no IT occupations on the list of desired occupations (in other words, you still needed a job offer to apply). You will have to wait next year when the occupations list is released to find out if you might qualify to apply without a job offer. If there are no changes to the occupations list (i.e. CIC uses the same occupation list that was used before), you will still need a job offer to qualify to apply.

A non-blood relative cannot sponsor you and no - you won't receive any points for the non-blood relative.

You mean these jobs right? http://www.canadavisa.com/new-instructions-federal-skilled-worker-applications.html

I thought it was a separate category altogether ;D So, I'm back to student visa option now, as getting a job offer as software developer is almost an impossible task.

Now suppose, I go there on a student visa, completes a post grad diploma & I manage to get a job offer (Ontario). Then should I file my application under PNP (after working 1-2 years) or should I go for FSW/CEC option as soon as I complete my study, provided I'll have a job offer in my hand (I'll be under post graduate work permit at that time)?
