I am trying to find a company that does travel insurance. My wife just landed in Ontario on April 27 and we are travelling to the USA from June 2-4. We obviously do not have OHIP yet.

Is there any companies that provide travel insurance to travel to the USA or outside of Canada?

Thank you,

Jeff

Yes, there are many.
But does she have any status in Canada or applied for PR ??

She is landed as a PR but does not have OHIP. She is literally travelling home for 3 days and it is hard to find a company that does travel insurance for someone without OHIP

There are some companies, Manulife for instance, it's called Travel Insurance. You have to provide them with a Canadian address. It's for people that are actually waiting for OHIP. Note that from the time you call and take up the service they make yiyou wait 3 days to activate it I think. And you can actually take it for only 1 week if you want.

She has applied for OHIP though right ?

She has not applied, she JUST got everything that she needs to apply

Manulife will not cover her for travel insurance outside of Canada

Well, she should apply soon.
You now it takes 3 months to get in effect since you apply, right ?
If you have your AIP letter or decision made letter, you d better even apply with that, as they might take that starting date. Hence, your wait time is shorter.

Actually yes, that is exactky what they do BESIDES covering her here in Canada.

I called. They will not cover her outside of Canada until she has OHIP.

I ended up using travel guard

There might have been a misunderstanding when you called, it is exactly what I used to travel outside Canada.
Very strange
