Hi,

I am planning to apply for Canada Student Visa for 2019 Jan intake as I am not getting enough points to apply for Express Entry. But because of gap in my education and education not related to my current job I am in confusion to apply. Though my consultant is saying we can apply.

Age: 37
Marital status: Married
Children: 1
Total experience: 2006-Till date (around 12years). I have all experience letters and last 5 years ITR.
Industry: Information and Technology
Designation: Front end architect (Lead Web developer)
Education:
Bachelor of Arts (3 years full time degree) from 2009-2013 (It took 4 years for me to complete, Because I was unable to write 2nd year exam because of work load)
Marks percentage: 55%
Intermediate(12th): 2001-2003
Marks percentage: 64%

I have Arts degree but, Learned Web development scripts and entered into the industry and working as Lead developer.

So 2003-2009 is a big gap after 12th, even though I have started working from 2006. And from 2009-2013 I was doing my regular full time degree as well as working as full time employee.

Even if I don't count my experience before graduation ie. 2013, I still have 4+ years experience after graduation.

Guys please help me!

I have just had my study permit for Jan 2019 intake rejected, saying to apply within 6mths of start date. So perhaps don't apply just yet :)

Okay, I will start process in July.

My doubt is because of education gap after my 12th and education is not related to my current job can be a problem or not??

It will be hard to justify that why did you change lines and now why are you planning to study again after 12 years of gap... but then a good SOP can pull off anything..

As I do not have current job related study, I want to do masters in information technology which would help me to gain more knowledge.

you can either pursue a course/program. that relates to your previous studies or work experience. So if you decide to go for a course that suits well to your experience instead of your previous course, show strong proof of your experience and write a very strong and convincing SOP explaining your reasons for it, what you tend to achieve with it, and how its going to improve you as a person and your country as an entity

Many people have been refused for such circumstances but few that has been able to convince the VO has scaled through

I don't think you have any issue of getting a visa if you can properly explain and defend yourself with your SOP, and tey to relate your previous studies to your experience even if it means stating some courses offered that seems a little bit related..

Your academic percentage seems a little low, also try to justify why it's so and reasons for it and how you improved and will improve more if given the opportunity to study your intended course

When writing your SOP, your main focus should be towards working tediously on your previous courses and work experience, and your low marks then anything else can fall closely. This is to avoid getting refused for course mismatch or irrelevancy

Bit if you can justify your reaosns, you will scale through. Do a good research before writing your SOP

Good luck

Thanks a lot John!

It gave me so much confidence to approach for student visa. Though my consultant was encouraging me, I was in little confusion.
