Hey guys need your advice when adding wife as dependent to file after marriage. I notified CIC and were given several documents to fill out.

When filling out the Generic form IMM 0008, what is she selecting for 1. "Program under which you are applying" and 2. "Category under which you are applying"? I found it a bit confusing from her angle since she isn't actually applying but being added to my file as a dependent.

Thanks guys

Thanks @legalfalcon. So just to be clear, I am selecting those options for her on her form that you provided?
Yes, you are adding your dependent spouse on your application, so it will have the same selection which it would have been for you. Economic - FSW / CEC / PNP

Were you asked for pictures of the ceremony or communication proof (i.e. fb chat or emails)?

Oh no, I had provided them initially with my application. It was a courthouse marriage with only four friends. Our parents were not there either. We did however included pictures covering dates from the beginning of our relationship up to the current date. We also showed a few utility bills with including the same address. But everything went smoothly more with her than when I was by myself. lol It seemed like my file was on hold but the moment I added my wife, I got weekly updates straight to approval of my file.

So basically you had told them prior to your actual wedding that you would be getting married and adding an applicant?

Not prior, but when I was updating my file to add my spouse as a dependent during the processing of my file, I included the information. I never explicitly told them that I was getting married. I simply added those evidence to the file for thoroughness.

Hey Thanks a lot for your help.
Would you be kind enough to guide me step by step on how to add a spouse and what exact documents they asked for once you raised a case specific request to add your wife?

I am getting married next month and I have submitted all my documents and cleared my medical. It would really help me arrange for the documents for my wife to be before I raise a case specific inquiry.

Would really appreciate it :)

Sure, first you must inform your visa office that you are about to get married and they will send you instructions of the docs to fill out. Some offices vary on which docs to complete so I don't want to recommend any especially if those docs have been updated.

So is it advisable to inform CIC regarding adding a spouse prior to the actual wedding? or should I wait till the wedding and then raise a case specific inquiry?
Also I know you do not want to give incorrect information but would you be able to share the list of documents you were asked for? This is just so I have an idea :)

Thanks!!
