Hi I’ve just received my COPR and have to land in Canada by 12 November
I’ve got a couple of questions if anyone could help
- I’m the only person on the application ( partner (sponsor) and kids are Canadian citizens ) we all living in the UK at the moment- can I go by myself for a few days to activate my PR
- do they expect to see the sponsor at the airport
- can I return to UK for another couple of months after first landing to sort out our house sale etc
- can they mail my PR card to England or do I need to give a Canadian address
Thank you

You can do the landing on your own
the sponsor is not expected at the airport
You can return immediately after you arrive with no consequence, however, I would advise you take the time to apply for your SIN number as soon as you can.
The PR card can only be mailed to an address in Canada.

Once you are a PR and you wish to fly to Canada from the UK, you'll need your PR Card or a Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD) before you'll be allowed to board the plane. So if you can, have the card sent to someone in Canada who can forward it to you in the UK. If that's not possible, then you'll have to submit your passport to the Visa Office in London to receive a PRTD.

Thank you I didn’t realise that this is how it works with the PR card , seems a but complicated for family from Canada having to post it to me to England, what if it gets lost . What’s a PRTD?

PRTD is a Permanent Resident Travel Document:

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/new-immigrants/pr-travel-document.html

It can be used in lieu of a PR card to travel to Canada. You will have to apply for this from the UK if you cannot receive your PR card.

The uncertainties of international mail are probably one of the reasons why IRCC won't mail PR cards outside of Canada. Another factor is that certain countries don't allow identity documents to be transported by mail or imported through the postal system. This isn't the case with the UK, however.

Also don't have to make it convenient for soft landings. The whole process is set-up for PRs who are settling in Canada.
