Best City in the GTA to Live In for Newcomers with Small Families.

Hi everyone, I'm looking for engineering or project management related job. Which city in Ontario would have more of such opportunities? My gut feeling tells me Toronto... but of course it's always better to get feedback from others who have the experience!

All depends on what kind of engineering. From what I have heard the job market in Toronto for engineers is very competitive. I would look into job postings to see if there is another region that might also need your type of engineering.

Northern Ontario might be a bit too isolated and small town depending on what you are used to. Also depends on what field you work in. The weather would probably be similar to patagonia. If you are looking for a mid-size city Ottawa might be a good option.

As someone who lives & works in Burlington, I totally agree that Burlington is hands down one of the best cities to live in. Yes rent does cost considerably higher but if you can afford it, then this is a perfect place to live.

Can you please make a comparison between Burlington and Oakville?

Very similar. Oakville is an older more established suburb and housing prices are higher.

Just like how canuck78 mentioned, Oakville's housing prices are comparatively exorbitant. In terms of standard of living and being family friendly, both cities are the right choices. You can't go wrong with either.

Can you give more light in oakville, burlington and Richmond hill. I want somewhere relaxing and family friendly, good community to raise kids and school.

These are all good neighbourhoods. Oakville is the most established while Burlington is more suburban and has really developed over the past 20 years. They are neighbouring communities while Richmond Hill is north of the city. The house prices and type of houses available may be more of a deciding factor.

We are budgeting 2500 to 3000 with utility for 3 beds. We haven't been to canada b4 though we have family in Alberta and we really want somewhere that the kids will like and not regret coming to canada

Think your budget and the availability of a rental property for your desired move-in date will have a large influence on your decision. I would suggest touring the neighbourhood when you look at properties.

Burlington & Oakville have squeaky low crime rate & are very family friendly. It's perfect for raising children & has really good schools. The main issue is real estate pricing is off the roof.
