I was over 56 years of age when I signed my application for citizenship in September 2017. That time, 4-year rule was in effective, accordingly, If you were between 14 and 64 years, you had to meet the language and knowledge requirement for citizenship". Since I was 56 years, so I was required to do the test.
My ECAS status has recently been updated by adding a line: We sent you a notice on May 14, 2018 to appear and write the citizenship test on June 9, 2018.
Now I just got an email with appointment letter attached. It says:
If you were under 18 years of age or 55 years of age or older on the date you signed your application, you are not required to demonstrate your knowledge of Canada or your knowledge of English or French. You are receiving this notice solely for the purpose of attending an interview with a citizenship officer to verify your identity and the originals of the documents you provided with your application.
I'm really confused. Should I prepare for test or not?
Appreciate your kind advices. Thanks.
