Nafta temporary work permit - Express Entry

Hi All,

I tried to find a clear answer to this but I still have a grey area.

I am currently a US citizen working in Canada under the NAFTA Temporary work permit program. I applied for Express Entry yesterday, and there was a question along the lines of "Do you have a job offer". Is my current status considered a job offer? Do I need to get anything from my current employer stating my current job is a job offer? It would be nice to get as many points as I can possibly get.

You have a valid job offer assuming:
1 - You're working on an employer specific work permit.
2 - You've worked for that employer for a year.
3 - Your employer writes you an offer valid for "a year after becoming permanent resident"

“Employer specific work permit”. #1 My work permit is closed and states my company name on my work permit. Therefore is this considered a valid job offer? #2 I have worked for my company for 2 years. #3 A year after becoming a permanent resident, I would assume they would write me a valid offer.

Yes, as long as they write you an offer following IRCC's guidelines you're good to go.

I have a job offer letter dated May 2016 when my companies lawyer submitted my work permit under the NAFTA agreement (3 years). Will this suffice?

Yes, as long as they write you an offer following IRCC's guidelines you're good to go.
