Got asked for Police Cert. despite less than 183 days??

Test went well (100% score) but interview did not. I got asked for a police certificate even though I spent less than 6 cumulative months in a third country over my eligibility period. I also got asked for the same for a fourth country where I also spent less than 6 cumulative months. I then realized that they had included a trip I made AFTER I signed the application, and therefore after my eligibility period, which did bump the total up to more than 6 months for both countries. They got that info. from the CBSA. Did they make a mistake here? As I'm sure everyone knows, getting a police certificate from a country that you are neither a resident nor a citizen of is not easy at all. I'm very depressed now.

Also, the time I spent in the two countries together was more than 6 months during the eligibility period. But my understanding is that combined time is not relevant.

Within the last 4 years, if you spent 183 days or more in another country (other than Canada), you must provide a police certificate. You must provide a police certificate for each country where you spent 183 days or more. If you cannot get a police certificate, tell us why.
Example 1
In the past 4 years, you took one (1) trip to France that lasted 200 days. You would answer “Yes” to the question and you would need to provide a police certificate from France.
Example 2
In the past 4 years, you took 10 trips to the United States of America (USA). Each trip lasted 3 weeks, for a total of 210 days. You would answer “Yes” to the question and you would need to provide a police certificate from the USA.

The thing is, when they say "Within the last 4 years, if you spent 183 days or more in another country", is it within the last 4 years from when you sign your application? It could be a rolling 4-year window counting back from NOW, where "now" is whenever they take a look at your application? I'm not saying which one is right, but only raising another possibility...

I would assume 4 years from the date you signed the application.

The 183 days total criteria is merely an administrative policy for triggering a clearance request.

The real question, the issue, is proof of NO convictions in another country EITHER during the four years prior to applying, or while the application is in process. (See Section 22(3) Citizenship Act.)

IRCC can request a police certificate regardless of the extent of contact or time in another country. Just must be a reasonable request.

That said, total time including time after applying is PROBABLY what triggered the request. But again, IRCC can ask for clearance if it has any question at all about any possible charges in a country, charges during the four years before applying or since applying.

Hi Friends, have a quick question. I was in Singapore from Nov 2011 till Feb 2016. In March 2016 i moved to Canada. Now i have to apply for citizenship, do i need Police clearance from Singapore?
