Hello guys !

Can anyone help me interpret this (found on cic website of course) ?

"As part of a complete application, applicants, their spouse or common-law partner and their dependent children 18 years of age or older (including non-accompanying dependents) must submit a valid police certificate for all countries or territories (except Canada) in which they have spent six months or more in a row within the last 10 years since the age of 18.

Note: This includes the requirement to provide a police certificate for countries in which the individual has traveled for six months or more, whether or not the individual had an established residential address during this time.

Under “Education,” applicants will be advised to enter the country and city in which they were physically present, even in the case of distance learning. This is to avoid unnecessary requests for police certificates."

Does it mean that if you were in a country for study purposes you don't have to provide a PCC ? I stayed 10 month in the US as part of an exchange program and still was asked to provide a PCC through the FBI... super confusing!

How come it is confusing mate? It is clearly written "in the case of distance learning". All other case you must provide PCC from every country where you have stayed 6 months in a row. You must provide usa pcc because you were there for 10 months. Otherwise a straight rejection will be handed over to you.

Thank you for the reply but what do they mean then by "unnecessary requests" ? I tried actually putting those 10 months in the study history section but not in travelling history, and they didn't ask for the US PCC, but if I include it with the travels they do ask for it... dang

Some people study at their own country but get awarded from a university situated at another country. This is called distance learning. In that case the applicant does not require to submit pcc for the awarding university country. Thats why applicants are instructed to put their city of residence as the city of educational istitute to avoid unnecessary pcc request by the system.

Please tell me if my understanding is correct.
Someone is living in India but studies distance learning from UK. Country of Study should be UK. correct?

How about if someone studies for high school and sits for exams with Cambridge International Examination. This certificate is awarded after 7 years of high school studies. What is the country of study in this case?
