So guys I havent received any visa updates for about 2 weeks now, and had a few questions. Profile details:-

Graduate Student admission at a good uni in for fall 2018 intake.
Applied for Visa:- 16th April 2018
IELTS:- 8.0
Portal updated to Medical Cleared (Upfront Medical) and Biometric Completed Alhumdulillah, around 1st May 2018.
Financial statements strong. No fees paid as yet since waiting for Matriculation/registration by uni.
Submitted 6 month bank statements, degrees, SOP, affidavit etc. Online application.

Question:-
1) How long do you reckon it takes for the visa application to process, the site says 8 weeks for Pakistani applicants, I am almost nearing a month.
2) Do they call for interviews now?
3) Are you called for interview on your phone or is it a face to face interview at the embassy? (travel to islamabad for that?)

2. Yes, seems so. I'm not sure if it's all applicants.

Hi do we need to fill IMM 5257 "Temporary resident visa" application form while applying for studyy paper based from Pakistan?

@hussain-lala can you please help this guy out? I applied online so i do not know. IMM 5257 isn't on the checklist too but is only available on the online portal. I would recommend to fill it but let's hear from those filed a paper based application.

I don't know if it's before or after medical.

I see, is it bad that I haven't? Two of my friends didn't receive any calls and got visa on first attempt.

I met a girl today she was not called for the interview but got her medical call. If your case is clear you wont get an interview call.

Not sure. Queens is offering me funding. No funding from Waterloo.

I know Waterloo is a better school but is it so much better that you pay ~50000 CAD more?

Well.. it depends on your area of specialization, for computer & maths. Waterloo over Queens anyday.

If the funding is as stated on the website, my entire stay is effectively free. The visa is easier. I stand to get into better PhD programs because I was good enough to get into a funded program.

My potenial supervisor is the head of department. He interviewed me and I felt we got along well. So I don’t know. I know waterloo is an amazing school and I’m very fortunate to get in but CAD50000 is CAD50000

Thats quite true .. you gotta weigh out the pros and cons and assess them with your future plans! Wish all the best mate
