Can I continue to work for my employer on an open WP

I currently work for a US based employer in India. I have an Open Work Permit.
I am trying to find out if my current employer(they have operations in Canada) can continue to employ me in Canada on my Open WP or if I would have to quit and look for a new job after moving to Canada.
My employer is willing to move me to Canadian payroll and let me work from their offices there but we are not sure if legally I am allowed to work for my existing employer from Canada on an Open WP.
I have not been able to find much information on this matter.
I would really appreciate any information/references.

Who issued your "Open WP" and why? Where do you currently live? Why are you moving to Canada?

I currently work in India. My husband is still working in Canada. My plan is to move there to live with him.

But if there is a legal way for me to work for them from Canada using my open work permit, they are willing to let me work from their Toronto office.
My query is if I need to get a new job in order to work on my open WP or if there is a way to attach my current employer to my open WP and work from Canada.

That's much clearer. If you have a Canadian Open Work Permit, you can work for any company, subject to any medical conditions on the OWP.
