Interesting conversation at Canadalive expo

I attended the Canadalive expo in the UK on Saturday. Sadly, it was combined with Australia/New Zealand live and the majority of talks and stands were in relation to the latter.

Anyway, I had a quick chat with Dennis Brazolot of Brazolot Migration Group and explained that I thought I was 448 CRS but that I hadn't applied yet as I didn't have the required funds in my account. I had only just obtained the required amount through a parental gift.

I was told that this would only be a problem if I was looking to apply for PR in Ontario. In other provinces, apparently, 6 months of bank balances are often not even asked for. This came as a surprise as everything I have read has indicated that a 6 month average balance statement is required! Dennis appeared to know what he was talking about, having been in the immigration business for decades however he was (understandably) unwilling to divulge any useful info until I paid for his services (£3,700 for the whole immigration process).

Just wondering if anyone who has applied to provinces other than Ontario have been asked for 6 months average bank balance? If this guy is as good as he says he is then perhaps paying for assistance may be worth it. However, I'm skeptical about his claim regarding the 6 month balance evidence not being required.

Thanks

Doesn't matter which province you intend to go to, if you are applying through EE-FSW you need to provide proof of funds.

6 months is absolutely required if you are applying under Federal Skilled Worker (which you would be assuming you have no Canadian work experience).

In your case, you would also need a letter from your parents stating the money is a gift and they don't expect repayment.

Thanks guys. Just what I suspected, the guy is full of BS and just wanted £3,700 of my money!

Maybe also ask the same question about this immigration consultant here

http://britishexpats.com/forum/canada-56/

Immigration consultants cannot guarantee anything and if you truly do score 448 that would be a good starting point. The overall immigration process can seem overwhelming but unless you have a complicated case then just taking care with each step most people manage through themselves.

The Canada Immigration site and this forum for example plus one above which is especially for UK applicants are full of advice from people who have been through the process successfully.

I agree, and I'm more than comfortable with the process (with the ongoing assistance of this forum) to navigate the application myself. I just took the opportunity to talk at the stall that was there to get their view. I wanted to check whether I'm missing something or not (eg I have dismissed PNP as I'm applying as an accountant and doubt that this would be possible). No way I'd pay £3,700 unless I knew that this guaranteed permanent residence. I was just curious as to whether it was true that not every province required the 6 month average balance evidence.
