I'm hoping someone can give me an answer to my question regarding the forms needed for sponsoring my wife from the Philippines. Before I get to my question, I would like to give a quick background of our situation. My wife's previous marriage was annulled prior to us getting married in Canada. However, her passport still had her previous last name and that was what we had to use in our marriage license/certificate. The marriage certificate is needed in the sponsorship package, but I think we can explain the name difference there by including the annulment papers that show that it was granted.
So now to my question(s). Should she update her name on her Philippines passport (which doesn't expire for another 2 years) to have my last name before we submit the sponsorship forms so we can use that when filling them out? Or should she just leave her name as is and use that in the forms?
Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated.
