I really would not worry about the interview if that's a factor on your Inland/Outland decision. For Americans.. It's rare. Very rare.

American applications seems to be being processed at Mississauga pretty (in some cases very!) quickly so if you don't NEED the OWP go Outland. That is only what I would do in your case.

But as Scylla said..nobody can make that decision for you or tell you how they will or will not process your application. And a "standard timeline" doesn't exist.

Hi! Just wanted to input my experience- My boyfriend and I applied common-law. He is American as well. We applied outland in August 2017 and we had to attend an interview in Los Angeles (where you would have to go if you had to do one as well). As others said, it is very rare but clearly it CAN happen. It was our fault, we did not provide enough proof of common-law, and they had concerns because I have not met his parents yet. But the interview went well and he got his COPR and already landed last weekend. Just make sure you submit enough proof of cohabitation to claim common-law and you should be processed quickly no issue Good luck!

We're the same and yes, from what I've heard it's very similar for Australians with "typical" relationships. But like any application, it completely depends on your case and what factors you may have.

Not saying Americans/Brits/Aussies don’t get called for interviews, but from what I’ve heard, it’s much less than from countries where immigration fraud is highly more likely.

It's extremely rare for these countries to go to interviews because the rate of non genuine relationships for purposes of immigration is extremely low when the applicant is from a first world country.

When you say you've seen so many called for interview, you have to be confusing the landing interview and the relationship interview, because it really does not happen often.

Once the file is transferred to the Visa Office that is when the processing begins, not ends. When did you apply?
