Hi Guys,

I am planning to apply for PR immediately after graduation. I am almost to the end of my academic journey here in Canada (completed 2 years masters (NOC list A)). I have work experience of almost 1600 hours back home (worked all days in week for 7.5 months) whose duties almost matches my current education in Canada. My work experience was different than my undergrad degree however my job back home is listed as NOC B list.

My academic degree here in Canada is not exactly same as per my previous experience. So I was wondering if I can apply for PR with this situation. I calculated my possible points and was 447.

You cannot apply as you do not have a year of full-time continuous work experience.

thank you for your reply. Does CIC looks for total working hour or days ? and also does it matters if my previous work experience is different than my current academic field here in Canada?

You need to have 52 weeks where you worked at least 30 hours in each of those weeks (or equivalent full time). Even if you worked 90 hours in one week - it's still only counted as 1 week of work experience. So with 7.5 months of work experience, you are 4.5 months short of a year.

Thank you so much, it was so helpful. I have a next question, does it matters if my previous work experience back home is different than my current academic degree here in Canada?

No - it doesn't.
