Hello ladies and gentlemen, I need to know if my wife can sponsor me for PR with no current job. We have lived in the usa for 8 years now and are selling our house to move to Canada. We will have some savings in our bank account and I have a 401k and stocks. We have two children both have proof of Canadian citizenship. Her mother will get us an apartment or even a house we move.from my understanding there is no low income cut off for spouse sponsorship as long as your children don't have children. What proof do we need to get sponsorship approved? Thank you for your time.

There no low income cut off period. Whether your children have children is irrelevant.

I was understanding that was Quebec that had no low income cut off period. But in certain cases the rest of Canada did. I am not trying to argue and hope that I am wrong.

Note: There is no low income cut-off (LICO) for spouse, partner or dependent child sponsorships, unless a dependent child also has one or more dependent children of their own. If a dependent child you are sponsoring has one or more dependent children of their own, you must include a Financial Evaluation (IMM 1283) form with your application (see your checklist for more details). this does not apply to me because 1.) my children are Canadian and 2.) they are not available for sponsorship...am I correct? and thank you for for your information :)

Exception to minimum necessary income

(4) Paragraph (1)(j) does not apply if the sponsored person is

  • (a) the sponsor’s spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner and has no dependent children;
    • (b) the sponsor’s spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner and has a dependent child who has no dependent children; or
    • (c) a dependent child of the sponsor who has no dependent children or a person referred to in paragraph 117(1)(g).

Now that we put that baby to sleep, what proof will I need to show my wife can provide basic necessities to be approved for sponsorship?
