GIC problem - funds are not transferred

Hi,
My funds did not transfer to the GIC. The reason is that name in scotiabank gic account does not contain my middle name (middle name is on my passport and indian bank from where i am transferring to). On enquiry, my consultant (who applied the GIC account) told me that middle name field was not in the scotia GIC application hence he did not enter. Now he is telling that he may open a new gic account with correct name. i dont know how it will accept now if it was not being accepted earlier.

Can anyone suggest me how did they handle the middle name thing ? Did you enter in the last name or first name with space? Any help will be appreciated.

i requested a bank to update my name correctly. i write an email alongwith my passport.
Did you receive any confirmation from the bank that your name has already been updated? Because the customer service of scotiabank told me that it will take 5 business days and they will not send any email that my name has already been updated :/

Hi Priya, I am having a similar issue. I have initiated my transfer to GIC account, but when I talked to the customer care they said they don't have my middle name in their system. So, I have also sent them a copy of my passport to update the name accordingly.

Did they take exactly 5 days for you to get the name updated? And did it got rejected for you at the first place just because of the missing middle name?

PS: My secured mailbox of Scotia Bank shows the complete name including the middle name as well at the Welcome screen. So this name is different from what they have in their system to match for GIC transfer?

i have transferred gic on 15/05/2018 in bank of nova scotia. on saturday 19/05/2018 i got mail from scotia bank that my wire transfer was not accepted due to address mismatch. i want to know that how much time it would take to get money refund in my account so that i could reapply for the same ?
till date i have not received the refund
