Visitor Visa + Work Permit

Hi

I would like to visit Canada and work there, i have family that lives there.

If anyone could please help answer my question below, i will appreciate it alot.

Is it possible to apply for a visitor visa including a work permit or do you have to first apply for a visitor visa and once you have the visitor visa you can then only apply for a work permit?

There is a few steps you need to take before applying for work permit. Firstly you should have a job offer from a canadian employer. Once you have obtain a job offer, ask your potential employer to apply for a LMIA. LMIA is a document proving that no citizens or PR is available to do the job offered to you.

LMIA is very difficult to obtain as it's very expensive and processing takes 3 to 6 months with a high refusal rate. Which is why most employers won't apply for LMIA.

If you somehow do obtain a approved LMIA then you can apply for a work permit.

I was looking at the LMIA exempt list and i saw that Athletes and Coaches are exempt.

I am a personal trainer and i was wondering if personal trainers would fall into that category?

I know for a fact that gyms in Canada wont issue an LMIA for a personal trainer so i am hoping i could either apply for the LMIA exempt work (open work permit)?

Athletes and coaches are really only considered believe if in the world class category. Do not see personal trainers meeting that requirement.

No - a personal training does not fall into this category. You need an LMIA to obtain a work permit.
